Re: ProQ Frontier and IQ110 - Set up tips?

Just thought I'd post a quick update on progress. I've run four cooks with the setup now. For the first three, I used water in the pan and I never felt that the IQ was in control of the temps at all. They were all over the place and I was forever opening and closing vents. I was on the verge of ...

ProQ Frontier and IQ110 - Set up tips?

So I just opened the box on my new shiny IQ110. Any hints and tips on how to get it set up and working properly on a ProQ Frontier?

I did notice on my last cook that the pit was a bit "leaky" with smoke escaping from doors and between the stackers. The manual with the IQ seems to think that this is ...

Pro Q Frontier
Heat Beads
Maverick
Hickory Chunks from Paul @Gouldens.
6 kg Pork shoulder from local butcher
4 slabs Pork ribs from Costco ...

Re: Pro Q - Frontier - How NOT to foil the water pan

Good question. I don't suppose you HAVE to foil. I just picked up from here and various other sources that it was "the right thing to do".

No I didn't have it sorted. I just went with an unfoiled pan as I had guests coming. That video could have been made for me ...

Pro Q - Frontier - How NOT to foil the water pan

So I'm on cook number two on my PQF, The first cook I used lump charcoal and struggled to get the temp above 217F with all vents open. A 5 kilo shoulder took 14 hours and three sacks of fuel to bring to 195F internal temp. The fuel cost as much as the meat. :o

For cook 2 I filled the basket with ...

Hello from Bolton

Just a line to say Hi. I'm living in Bolton which I don't think is the centre of the BBQ universe  I'm new to BBQ but have managed a few semi decent cooks from my ProQ Frontier. Looking forward to learning and sharing with you lot.

All the best
