Well I`ve learned something straight away from your post so many thanks. I think what I`m trying to achieve is the convenience of gas with some of the taste attributes from coals. I always thought that this was impossible but everyday`s a school day!

I`ve taken the plunge and gone for a stainless 4 burner + side. No particular manufacturer but I deem it to be good build quality and for the price I got it for I couldn`t refuse :)
I`m absolutely loving the fact that I`ve got so much more control over the charcoal and amazed how little gas it uses ...

Hi,
Just realised how I`m only "scratching the surface" with bbqing! so registered here!
Had many years experience of marinading meat and cooking on bbq but I`m now seeing a completely different level!
I`ve been cooking on coals but now looking at purchasing a decent gas item and also getting into ...
