Thanks Yeti. Sounds like a good starter wood. Does anybody have any views/experience of using Birch?

I'm using silver birch almost exclusively at the moment as I pinched four bloody big logs when my parents felled a tree last November. It's a nice mild smoke that works well with anything, which is a good job as this lot will probably last over 6 months

Going to buy some birch logs to stand by Big Joe on while I get the motivation to build a stone Base. Will smoke them afterwards!
