I have just this weekend been to B&Q and they have a webber kettle (fairly big one) on sale for £98 reduced from £150.
I like the look of it too and although i had decided to go for a gas bbq at double the price i now can't decide
Please please someone make this easy for me by telling me the charcoal grill is far better than a gas grill, i have to get it right or the OH will never let me forget it

Not an easy decision. It all depends on what you want to use it for. Personally I'm a charcoal man and the Weber Kettle is a versatile device. If I had to choose just one BBQ I would probably go for a Weber Kettle. Having said that gas has its place. I bought a Q200 a few years ago really for trips/holidays but have found myself using it home far more than I ever thought I would. Ask yourself what are you going to cook. Is immediacy of cooking heat important to you versus start up time of a charcoal grill. Are you bothered about issues like disposing of ash. Is it all about the food or are you interested in actually controlling the fire. Of course if you really get into BBQ you need more than one cooker. I now have 8 and still want more....

I have a Weber one-touch. It is currently on long-term loan to friends, as this year I have been experimenting with my pellet cooker.
However, note the *on loan* bit. I couldn't bear to part with it permanently. I'd say go for it - you'll have great fun with both grilling and indirect.

I have never owned a gas grill and I never had the urge to buy one. Yes, it is faster getting to heat than charcoal. But that's really the only advantage, I think. Charcoal is much more versatile (hot and fast or low and slow) and food just plain and simply tastes better over charcoal. (IMO, of course)

Charcoal every time for me. I do use gas but really only for keeping things warm after they are cooked.

+1 for charcoal especially the Weber. I have one and it is without doubt one of the best things I've ever bought, simple, well built and at the price excellent value for money
If you're not sure buy both

Ha ha, the kitchen is mine too, im the cook of the house.
One of the main reasons i was going to get the gas BBQ was so i could build it into the outdoor kitchen.
I suppose i could build the kettle in there instead.
I think i'll get it, at £98 I can't go wrong

Do you know what model it is. If it is a One Touch Premium 57cm with the ash catcher "bucket" then it is a good deal. Don't get a 47cm model I think they are too small to do any decent amount of indirect cooking. If it is a One Touch Original then you can get it cheaper elsewhere
