Hello,

I wondered if anyone had actually used one of these and could let me know what they are like? Im going to bite the bullet and get something bought and delivered, i just cant decide what!

I've not got one of these but I’ve not heard anything good about them or any other cheap offset smoker, from what I hear they need quite a few modifications with fire bricks and plugging the gaps with tin foil before you can get stable temp's with them.

Personally I would recommend getting a bullet type smoker. Depending on your budget look at the ProQ frontier & Excel 20 or look at the Weber WSM's as they all cook well out of the box.

Shame i really fancied one of these. They seem a good price, but all i hear is bad things!

Id love of those but Im not sure if i can't stretch to one.

I belive the ProQ frontier is simillar in price as the landman and i know a lot of people here have got them and still use them many years on.

The pro q is coming in at about 180, so about 50 more.

I do want one though! gonna put a post out asking for a second hand one, if i can't get it ill order new.

Fella, have a look on ebay. Type in bbq smoker and you will find a pro q excel 20 being sold in Essex.

I've spotted that. Live in Preston though so it depends in how much it goes for. Its on my watch list.

An alternative if you're on a budget is to keep an eye out for a 57cm Weber one touch gold kettle BBQ on ebay. I picked my one up for £65.

I still use my kettle all of the time as it'll be more versitile than either a Landman or ProQ/weber smoker as you'll be able to do your grilling and low and slow with it.

Does it hold heat as well as a Pro Q frontier? I kind of want it for weekend as i have a freeday and fancy Qing up some animal.

They hold their heat very well but you would need to add more charcoal to it throughout a cook but with the hinged grate it's easy to do.

It'll hold enough fuel to cook chicken, ribs, roast beef, venison or other items like this without needing to add more fuel, just if you want to cook brisket or pork shoulder would you need to add more fuel as they take a really long time to cook but you still can and loads of people in the states do with the weber kettles
