Hi from a newbie in NW London.

Got fed up with traditional British BBQ of burnt sausage and burgers with a side helping of under cooked chicken drumsticks and decided to take BBQ'ing a lot more serious. I've always like proper home prepared and cooked food so don't mind putting effort in for a quality result. Always been the primary cook in the household so a pretty competent cook. I had a bit of extra cash a few weeks back and treated myself to a Weber Spirit e310 as a local dealer had an unused ex-display model for a good price. Since then I've been reading posts on this forum picking up some useful ideas and thought it was time i joined.

I know the pureists will whince at me getting a gas grill but with the convenience I'll at least use it mid week. May also get a Charcoal BBQ possibly a WSM as my confidence grows.

Look forward to reading and participating in the forums.

Alan.

Welcome to the forum.

No shame in using gas. As much as I like my charcoal grills my Weber Q200 is a god send for quick grilling. We tend to use it a lot during the week.

After reading the posts on here and the virtual bullet over the past two years I decided it was time to get a WSM. I've been pleased with my Weber grill so after doing a some overtime before Christmas I had enough money to go for the WSM 47cm model. With a bit of winter discount I was able to get the extra bits such as chimney starter that I will also need.

Hoping that the weather will start drying out soon so I can do some trial cooks before BBQ season really gets going. I was thinking that a simple smoked chicken or turkey breast might be the best thing to start with.

Problem is the expenditure doesn't stop there as I've now decided I need a new deck for the extra entertaining I'll be doing. Better get round to do some more overtime :o

Expect some questions being posted in the other topic's from me.

Alan.
