Hey everybody

I wonder if someone could help me with a problem I have, I recently purchased a weber Q200 and am having a problem with temp range, I can only get a range of between 400f and 600f, is this the norm or am I doing something wrong? I have got various weber kettles and get a temp range of around 200f to 800f.

Cheers

Craig.

Ps. I would like to get the temp. lower.

How many burners does the grill have? if more then 1 turn on 1 burner as low as you can get it give it 10 mins, check the temp, then increase it a notch and so on that should enable you to regulate the temp with a degree of accuracy

Hi

The weber Q200 only has one burner, I can adjust the temp fine between 400f and 600f, is just that it will not stay below 400f.

Cheers

Craig.

If it's chucking out 400f at it's lowest settings I'd rapidly email Weber and see what it's supposed to do, you may have a duff burner

I find that this is normal for the Q220, it is more a direct grilling machine or a hot and fast roaster.

I wrote up a piece on my old blog that may be of interest.

Hi

Thank you for your advice and comments, I think I'm going to have more trouble cooking with the Q200 than the kettles, and I was thinking I would buy it for convenience, oh well.

Cheers

Craig.

Doubtless it's a great addition for it's purpose, which is grilling, ideal for a quick meal of burgers, chicken bits, sausage etc. You've got a kettle for the longer and slower cooks, and as Phil has show it can be readily modified to cope with some kinds of smoking so don't regard it as the black sheep of your bbq family, treat it with love and care and it will last you for years, remember BBQs have feelings as well, just ask Gazz he felt so much for his he gave them names :D ;)

I've got a Q200 and the temps you are talking about sound right.

It's not a lo and slow unit but it's great for hot cooks. The one I have is one of the original Ready Steady Q units d I won a grand cooking quail on one :D

They're good for grill-roasting with the lid on. I've done some great spatchcocked chickens on it, butterflied lamb legs and stuffed pork fillets.

Just don't expect to be doing 12 hour pulled pork on one ;)

I second Steve's comment, for the right sort of food it is a fantastic cooker. I have planked Salmon, roasted Piri Piri chicken etc. It will last for an age, I leave mine out all year and it is always ready to go for a quick supper.
