Best way to light Restaurant charcoal?

I've managed to get my hands on some of that very large lumpwood charcoal used by restaurants, the one in the 12kg big blue bag.

Just wanted to know if lighting it in a chimney starter was the best way to go?

My bbq is a large barrel type. Using BGE charcoal previously it usually took 2 chimneys to get enough coal to cover about 70% of the charcoal pan.

Use a chimney starter and dump lit on unlit. you dont need to start it all with a chimney.

Can you dump lit Aussie Heat Beads on Unlit? Considering buying some of them as they sound pretty good

Those heat beads are very special. Im a bit of a purist, having been spoilt with amazing african hardwood as my fuel source for most of my life. Its made me a bit of a barbeque snob. The consistant quality and staying power of the beads are right yp my street. Strongly recommend.

I'll try pouring the lit charcoal over unlit charcoal already in the pan. and then I wait for all the coal to light before cooking yes?

I use off the shelf kindling wood and fire lighter gell(asda). bung a piece of wood on my cheapo kettle, smother in the lighter gell and bung the chimeny over it.Works for me. Then once burning furiously chuck it on the unlit lump and let it burn. Close up the q and once your temps are stable start cooking. The idea is that the lit coal will light the unlit, giving a much longer burn and lower temps. If it all burns at once you're looking at a furnace
