Beercan Chicken on a OTP without stand

Hi folks
Looking to attempt beercan chicken this week. Two potential problems
1) Using a Weber OTP
2) No stand
Are either of these a showstopper?
My plan for 1) is to use a tray on the charcoal grate. Stack the coals at one side of the grate and tray at the other. Is it worth building a wall in between? I am trying to procure some fire bricks, but may try with standard house bricks until that time. We shall see what advice you all have

My plan for 2) is...put the beercan inside and hope it still stands up!
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Item 1: No problem, this is how I do mine, but I have the Weber charcoal holders, and have the coals either side of the chicken.
Item 2: Not so sure on this one, I have succesfully stood one up on the can alone, but I wasnt really happly about the stability of it.
In this case I lay it down, drunk half the can

and had the can horizontal in the chicken.
Then went out and bought a stand.

These holders?
I have some wire ones which came with the OTP. Not sure if they're any good.
Thanks for the info. Guess I'll be buying a stand! Did you buy the weber one? (there are two) and many third party ones!

Yes those holders, but the ones that come with the OTP should be ok, I tend to use the holders for briquettes and the wire ones for lumpwood.
I use the Weber original roaster, the one with the round base.

If you use a cheapo metal oven tray lined with foil on the charcoal grate, then there is more stability than with a cheap foil one. Until I got a holder I had no problems with balancing the chicken on the beer can don't forget you should be letting the legs touch the pan to form a tripod. Stcking the coals to either side is also my way of setting it up. The advantage of the metal tray is it does hold the coals back well.

Howay,
As Keith suggests forget foil trays forever they are useless. Get some cheap ones from lidl or the like and foil cover for easy clean or bung in the dishwasher after.
I use a 57cm kettle and works a treat. Pan on the charcoal grate, can up its chuff and the legs acting as a tripod and then pile coals either side.
Tasty roasty chicken so it is.
Cheers

For chicken I'd say between 300 and 350F if you want a good skin on it

And about 75 minutes at that temp?
Thank you.
