Just discovered this forum the other day whilst researching smokers in an effort to find myself a new hobby to go along side brewing beer.
I'm a first time smoker and currently trying to decide between getting a 37cm or 47cm WSM. Also looking for a good wireless probe if anyone can recommend one (along with anything else I may need to get myself started)
Cheers
Steve

Thanks for the welcome. I'll get the 47cm ordered then, there seem to be a few good deals on at the moment.
There appears to be two models of the maverick that I can see the ET732 and ET733 is it worth the extra cash for the 733?
Anything else I need to pick up other than the above + charcoal, chimney starter, wood chips?

I'm looking at getting the two probes so I can see meat and grill temp. I use the grill temp to control the heat and the meat temp to know when it's done. Really you could get a thermapen off ebay and a 372 but it'd be a personal opinion on opening the lid to check temperature.

Welcome and my advice is go for the 47cm as you will find you start smoking more and more (an addictive and delicious hobby) and nothing worse than being limited by smoker capacity. I hit my rib limit the other day and still had two racks to cook which turned into a game of meat tetris.

Thanks all. I ended up getting the 47cm one along with a chimney starter, 12 kg of weber charcoal and some wood chips for around £330 delivered.
I've just spent the last half hour putting it together and other than the lack of instructions as to where the fibre washers go it was a painless build.
Impressed by the quality it has a nice solid feel to it.
I'll order a thermometer after payday and then I can look at getting my first smoke on!
