Hi,
I just came across this website whilst looking for BBQ ideas to try over the summer. It looked like there was some great ideas and suggestions on the forum so thought it well worth signing up.
I am a real novice with the BBQ with mostly burgers, sausages and chicken being cooked so far. I would love to start trying something a bit more adventurous and was also looking in to using a bit of smoke for flavour (although I only have a gas BBQ).
I have an Outback Meteor BBQ which has plenty of room on so was thinking about trying a joint of meat in a couple of weeks when the family are round. Was going down the line of ham and maybe pork or beef. What would be the easiest couple of things I could do to get me started?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome,
I started out on my Outback gas grill and tried some more adventurous bits then bought a smoker unit to use as well. Loads of info on here to keep you reading for hours.
Enjoy.

Welcome,
No need to apologise for an outback gas grill, rather like mine. Suggestion is to have a good read of lots of threads, then try some chicken thighs, and then an pork shoulder, both reasonably inexpensive and quite forgiving, good chance to start playing with rubs smoke and sauces.
On a gas grill you can put wood chips in an foil pouch or our local sainsburys has an stainless steel smoker box for about a tennerish.
Happy cooking

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll take your advice and have a look through the forum for some ideas. Think I will try a pork shoulder when I get the BBQ out next and see how it goes. Will have a look for some ideas for side dishes as well. It just gets a bit boring doing the same thing all the time. I'm sure I'll be back for more advice soon. Happy grilling
