Does Lava Rock Make a Difference

Does Lava Rock Make a Difference

Hi all,

I think im going with the gas BBQ at the moment.
What i would like to know though is, although the BBQ im looking at getting has vapourising bars can i use lava rock and if so does it make much/any difference by useing it?

As far as I'm aware (but I don't know much about gassers) the bars are an alternative to lava rock but do the same thing. Ie hold enough heat to vaporise the juices that drip on them, adding flavour as the vapors come into contact with the meat.

What sort of performance are you looking for from a gas unit
Whet do you mean performance?
I want to use it for grilling, smoking and slow cooking.

Maybe you'd be kind enough to explain the differences. I'm sure there are plenty on here who haven't much experience with gas but are interested to find out more.
