I am thinking of getting one of these but i have a kettle bbq with no probe holes and was wondering where you put the lead to the base unit ie does it fit between the bodies or will the lid damage the probe lead? Also where do you stand the base unit is it on a table next to the bbq?

Is that not a pain when you need to take the lid off then?

It can be a bit of a pain but to be honest you don't normally need to open the lid too much when you're cooking
