My butcher has come up trumps:

Fresh from the butcher. Cost £15 :)

Membrane removed and cut into three-rib joints.

Going to give them a go this week-end.

Nice ... I would have been inclined to cook them in one joint rather than cut them up, will be interested to see how they go for you.

Hi Banjo,

Do you still have the pictures of the ribs as I don't think the link is working on here anymore. Also what prices per Kg are most peoples Beef ribs as I have no idea how much they should cost if I manage to find any?

I seem to remember from the heady days of butchery (35+ years ago) that the short ribs were cut from the "rib roast" (at least in our shop). With a lot of people looking at beef roast this year it might be a time to chat up your local butcher. Generally the top section where it's trimmed used to go for mince/stewing steak.
Just had a quick look at Amazon (yep they do more than books) for some prices.

I bought some in Selfridges. They were quite expensive though.
