another little local gem of a butchers is Richardson's in Dartford, a long established family butchers that sell superb produce at good old fashioned prices....

Their pork is from Plantation Pigs in Surrey...try it!!!!!!

:) :)

What are Richardsons like for barbecue cuts, Dennis of Bexley seems ideal but it's too far from me.

To be honest, I'm not too sure re. briskets, I get them from Dennis'. I'm going to Richardson's at lunchtime so will ask but not sure their beast will be as good Dennis' McDuff....will see if I can get one for this weekend and feedback to you.
All their other produce is top drawer especially the pork (Google Plantation Pigs).

Dennis' is only one more junction up on the A2 for you and very close to the off ramp, you could probably get there quicker than driving through Dartford to get to Richardson's....

Davy,

apologies but didn't get to butchers, Mrs. Irish has surprised me with a trip down the van this weekend.
Will speak to them early next week re. comp cuts and let you know. Will also get a brisket from them and do next weekend.

Just been to Richardson's, he gets the whole cow, naturally reared in Sevenoaks, so he can supply most cuts. Brisket £7.20 per KG. He showed me a lovely Jacob's Ladder, £3.70 per KG, so each one works out about 6 quid (trimmed).

Was going to do a brisket on Friday but now tempted with the J'sL..... :? :? :? :?

Sounds good, if he gets the whole cow then he should be quite easily able to cut up some tri tip.

Davy, I showed the butcher a diagram of a tri tip but he didn't recognise it.

He only had one small Jacob's Ladder which I gave to my mate and I picked up a bone in brisket which I'll cook on Sunday.
