New gas BBQ - what is missing?

Feel free to ask any questions, one of the experts will certainly respond, don't be afraid to ask anything, we were all beginners at some point.

New gas BBQ - what is missing?

Post by jason7579 »

Hi,

I got a gas BBQ and after putting it together I'm sure I'm missing a piece. It was end of line, hence cheap, so I'm not sure I will be able to get a replacement.

The piece I'm wondering about is for the side burner and I'm sure that there should be a hose or connection as the gas just escapes (see pic below). Can anyone help with a possible solution?

I can't quite picture which part that is - but it may well be right. It is where the gas and air mix before being sent to the burner for combustion. It is possible there may have been a clamp around that inlet which you could adjust the oxygen inflow - but difficult to tell. What is the make and model of the BBQ? You might well find an expanded parts list online.

The silver grey part to the right of the picture is where the gas connects to the side burner control. The bright silver pipe going out of the left hand side of the picture bends up to the side burner itself. it is a very loose fit between the side burner pipe and the control nozzle and there are the 2 rectangular holes (one of which you can see pictured).

I didn't realise the gas had to mix with air to be honest, it is a propane gas bbq, so maybe this is correct. I just assumed it would be gas tight.

I will have to check the make and model when I get home, but it is very similar to the Landmann Grill Chef BBQ seen here

No as I was worried that it wasn't connected properly and would be leaking gas! I'll give it a go tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Thanks for the help.

Hi
I know its a couple of months after the original post but when I built my gas bbq I had the same problem. I was checking the box and instructions over and over until I just tried it and it worked fine.
I thought it might blow up as the gas would just shoot out the hole then catch alight.the kept the kids in doors that day
