Hi Si,

I have been a bit busy lately but it now has a door and tomorrow I may go to an exhaust place and see if they will bend me a 3inch piece of pipe for the stack.

I have decided to build a separate small door to tend to the fire at the end. Once I have done that and added strips to seal the door I will start experimenting and see how it performs.

I will post more pictures soon!

Hi Tomasz

Have you seen this calculator to help with sizing of things like your exhaust etc?

I have seen it but to be honest I have not used it yet! I will have a look now. I may have to cut a slot in the exhaust so I can partially blank it if i need to.

Quick update:

I have cut the foot off as that is where I will put the small fire door. I bought the angle piece from an exhaust place and partly welded it in place. I can then slot a piece of pipe in when I want to use it, which means I can store it vertically.

I had a look at the calculations and it made me realise that the exhaust is probably almost long enough as it is. It helped me work out the intake size too but I don't know how relevant it all is because my fire box is not really separate.

That looks amazing! I really like the idea of putting the fire inside the same drum but behind a divider, cunning. :D

Thanks very much!

I was getting a little worried that I had chosen the wrong design but a member on smoking meat forums said he had seen this setup work well. I think it is quite a neat looking design.

I'm hoping to get it pretty close to completion tonight.
