Always wanted to get into proper "low and slow" bbq, so finally bought myself a Brinkmann Gourmet (ok, so not a true ECB). Not modded it yet but will start soon.
Did my first smoke yesterday, just 6 chicken thighs with a bit of hickory....went better than I expected but still not perfect, had a bit of a flare up on the wood (dry wood you see....newbie!) but still, very impressed.
Have pre-ordered some baby backs from my local butcher so that will be the next experiment, before moving onto pork shoulder, and maybe one day brave enough to do a beef brisket.
Anyway, hoping to pick up lots of tips on this forum and getting to know you all!
Cheers
Rob

Forgot to say....already have an Outback 3-burner gas grill which I gave up the ghost on last season and went back to a cheapo-kettle charcoal bbq from B&Q....nope, back on the gas this year!
Am based in the South East (east Berks) and luckily we're spoilt for choice when it comes to good butchers.
