UDS Drum - New

Hi

Looking to source a new 45 gallon steel drum for a UDS build.

Anyone suggest a supplier in the UK? Preferably in the north east.

Sent an email to Smiths of the Forest of Dean, but their website says that they don't ship individual steel drums.

I'd rather have new than reconditioned.

I can't recommend any specifically but I had luck with a company that supplies garages with oil. I picked up two once used drums for £15 a pop

My mate will give me an engine oil drum (he's a mechanic). But I was a bit unsure about the health implications.

How did you clean/burn yours?

Ask your mates and work collegues, ring around local garages and get on freecycle.

I've got four drums and not paid for one yet, only actually used one so far but there are plans for the others

Thanks all. Should be able to pick up a drum tomorrow.

Now...onto the rest of the materials!

Got the drum. Still got engine oil in (a little). Hopefully going to fill it with water today, empty it somewhere...then cut the lid off with a grinder...or maybe a chisel.

Wash it with soap and pressure washer...then burn it...

See how I feel about it after that. I'm unsure.

Bit nervous and may still buy a new one. Company down south want £55 delivered (half of that is shipping!).

just pour out the oil, drill your air intake holes and burn it out, it will be fine.
