After an extended period traveling and working in the US. I'd like to give BBQ'ing (smoking) a shot for myself.
I'm currently in Aberdeen. How widely is mesquite used in the UK? I've seen it at druidswood, but its expensive for what is basically a weed in TX. Granted shipping on wood from the US to the UK must be steep.

Hi and welcome
I've never used Mesquite myself but alot suggest you only use a tiny amount as it is a very full-on flavour that it can impart onto whatever you're smoking. I've also seen it suggested that you mix it with something like applewood, although I don't know if this is the best way of doing it. There's a smoking woods reference table in the Help & Advice forum. It might be worth having a look at that for reference

Thanks very much. I'm hoping to combine BBQ with my other favorite hobbby, brewing. both should take roughly the same timeCHokKA wrote:Hi and welcome
