ET-732 will allow you to get some sleep Phil, it's got alarms. Also with the tuned antenna it's more likely to have the range to get a reliable link to your bedroom from your cooker.

As much as I love to use my iPhone for everything, this is just one device I have real doubts about.

Phil, that's the old model in stock there. My dad just picked a 73 up from eBay for £20 as people are clearing stock. I paid £50 for my ET-732 shipped from the US, don't pay £50+ for the old model.

The ET-732 is well worth the extra cash.

Al, both Maverick's are weatherproofed to some degree. OK they may not be IPxx rated but my 73's have both been outside in heavy rain overnight and haven't suffered from ant water ingress. The 732's weather sealing looks far superior, I just haven't left my new one out in the rain yet to test it.

I've also left my thermapens out in the rain with no issues

I have no idea, I was referencing towards the brand name as being around longer having history and brand recognition.

The range is going to be tied more into the Tx power of the iGrill although a tuned antenna on a modified dongle may allow a small increase in range.

If you want to test such a device, plug it into a PC, there's no reason it would need to be plugged into a Mac.

I have just ordered a Maverik ET-732, and i haven't ordered my smoker yet(ordering that Friday) it cost me £59 + any money customs add on.

Just need to find a friend with a cash and carry card for the charcoal.
