Buying a good BBQ
Buying a good BBQ
Hi all. Newbie to the forum and to the world of the BBQ. I am looking for any advice on buying a good BBQ for around £100 if that is possible? I know it is not a lot but I am just starting off. Also what type is best, gas or charcoal? Thanks!

Re: Buying a good BBQ
Depends what you are looking for really.
Pretty much everyone on here will recommend buying something with a lid and the ability to have heat only in one part of the BBQ. If going with gas this would mean more than one burner, with charcoal then a kettle style BBQ is a good bet.
My choice at that money would be a Weber kettle like this http://www.gardenxl.com/s/weber-57cm-on ... oduct.aspx although it's a tenner over your budget. Webers are good quality and it will last you years.
However there are many other brands of BBQ out there worth considering, just look for something that's good quality. When it comes to gas at that money, I can't really offer any advice, I'm not a gasser, but it is very convenient.

Gas will cost you more than £100, I made my own gas one and it cost £380 without labour. A good charcoal weber would be a good first time investment.

I can definitely recommend the Weber kettles, as that is exactly what I started off with.

Hi, thanks for the quick replies. More than likely we will be cooking for 4-8 people. On the odd occasion a maybe a few more but for the most part 8 or less. I was trying to weigh up the great taste you get with charcoal against the quickness and ease of gas.

Depends what you want to cook. Normal English BBQ burgers and sausages (Grilling), low and slow American syle Joints of meat, racks of ribs.

Exactly, what Steve said. A Weber kettle grill is for you.
