Deliberating between the ProQ Excel 20 and the WSM (47 or 57cm)
In the mean time can anyone recommend a must have book or books for the beginner.

Try Steven Raichlands Barbecue Bible, it's a good alround book and explains basic principles it's not 100% smoker though

Cheers Vic, didn't see it first pass but turned it up using the search facility.
Have ordered Steven Raichlen's (I have been inspired by his Primal Grill) The BBQ Bible and Peace, Love and Barbecue.
Amazon didn't have any copies of Smoke and Spice but that will be my next.

Plab is a great read, my favourite BBQ book. Smoke and Spice is also a good one.

If you take the ISBN 1-55832-262-0 number to W H Smiths they can order it in for you. Mine only cost £10.99.
If you can you use the number and search on the internet a cheeper copie, well done
