Maverick keeps dropping out

Postby Curlie028 » 29 Jun 2011, 12:37

Had the Maverick for a week now and using today for the 4th time :D

Problem is when I bring it into the kitchen after a time (different each time it happens) the receiver beeps and the temp read ----.
I'm pretty sure it has lost the signal. When I walk to within about 30ft of the transmiter it picks the signal up again.
The WSM is at the bottom of the garden and 35 strides from where I set the receiver, so I guess maybe 100ft.

I do have wifi and wireless phones in the house and everyone has a mobile.

Any suggestion, gratefully received. (received, did you see............) :P

Is the 100ft direct line of sight or do you have your smoker round the corner of the house or with anything else in the way?

Mmmmm!
Direct line of sight but we had to drop the bottom of the garden down two steps to level everything out.
Might try raising the transmiter a little higher.
Better test it out on the bedside table before I venture to overnighters. :)
While the bedroom is the same side of the house, obviously the wall will be in the way.
Perhaps I was expecting too much from the Maverick.

Is this the newer ET732 or the ET73? The former supposedly has a greater range (300ft) but with the ET73 I don't think I've even got to 100ft when it starts to lose connection. I don't know the frequency that it operates on so can't be sure if broadband wireless (on around 2.4 GHz I think) will interfere but the lack of range is annoying and at some point I'll upgrade to the 732

It's the ET 732 I have.
Going to try setting up in a different place tomorrow to see if that helps.
