Hello from Somerset
Hi
I'm CyderPig from Somerset, and have just joined today.
I found this forum while researching info for an Ugly Drum build, I have been using a Brinkman smoke and grill, and my homebuilt Texas type grill for the past four years.
If any members have measurements for converting a 45 gal drum into a UDS I would be really greatfull?

Any help required on the UDS, give me a shout, I've done a few now. Some of the parts are a sod to find if you want to use threaded nipples and the like, but they can be found.

Hi Steve
Thanks for your reply.
I have managed to get expanded steel from my local builder merchants in an 8ft by 2ft sheet for £26.
The nipple caps and ball valves I am going to try to get these today, a local plumbing store was ordering me a 3/4 air intake valve, but I have to see it to check its not galv? Who sells the Magnets some use?
Local tips have been put on alert for 22.5 kettle drums and I have 6- 45 gal drums ready to burn out, but any info on getting bits is much appreciated!
If other members are having trouble getting good smoking wood, I suggest they contact their local Tree surgeons as they are a brilliant source of Cherry, Apple, Oak ,Beech etc.
I will try to post some pic's when I can get someone computer savvy to help as I am a total Luddite!

Hi there,
I'm just over the border too near cullompton. Look forward to seeing how you get on with your UDS, I looked into one, but went for a horizontal barrel and a proq frontier.
There's some top guys here who can help with the UDS.
Cheers
Marcus

Re: Hello from Somerset
Left the expanded steel out , used an old beer barrel instead! Cut it it half or so,7inch basket 15.5 wide, will sort photo's when I can get someone to post who is puter savvy. Used disc cutter to make air slots, lot of work, but this baby will last for ever. Have put a post out about Grillstock 2012, I live 9 miles from Bristol and can offer camping accom.
