Weber developments - new products, site changes

The Weber UK site has had an overhaul. The (rarely used) forums have gone.

There's a whole load of new stuff up at their products pages, including:

- The new Jumbo Joe (getting one)
- The new smaller chimney starter (for the above and other small barbecues)
- The long-awaited pizza oven
- Barbecue gloves (not mittens - maybe an answer to Glovens, etc)
- A 'folding pocket thermometer' (looks a bit like a thermapen - reads 'in 5 seconds')
- Lots of other new grill pans, burger presses and stuff
- Some new charcoal, including 'Steakhouse Restaurant Charcoal' and 'Premium Express Lumpwood Charcoal'
- Additions to the 'gourmet' system of inserts. They now have wok, sear grate, griddle, pizza stone, poultry roaster (eh?).

This is a bloody disaster, bigger shed? I already have a garage full, Mrs Tiny will have an apoplexy if I buy any more gear..........That said the Outback hunter is approaching season 7 and is starting to feel a little worn, perhaps scope for a new 3 burner gas......but no more charcoal accesories, definitely.

I must admit, I can't really see the point. I like my Smokey Joe because it is portable, and the short legs allow it to be used on a tabletop. But the Jumbo Joe is a bit big for this, in my opinion.

How easy is a standard Weber to take apart? Was thinking of a portable weber to take to France this year - but if it's easy to take the legs off, might be better to simply buy a standard one....

I want one. I've got a smokey joe and do use it occasionally almost like a side burner when doing over cooks - like you I put it on a table top. But I do want something slightly bigger and I think the Jumbo Joe is probably going to fit the bill. I want something that I can put in the car without completely blocking the boot and that I can cook a reasonable amount of food on. I find the smokey joe a little bit snug especially if you're trying to cater for more than two of you.

This is what i do with mine and if you do it with a otg, you can rest the ash catcher on the ground or table and it will be very stable

Wow that new charcoal of theirs is expensive. RRP of £11.99 for 3kg of the Steakhouse stuff. Hell for that amount of money I'd want to eat it, not cook with it.
