Cocoshell Briquettes

For anyone in the Durham area the Forest Fuels Store in Chester le Street still has a stash of cocoshell briquettes 2x5kg bags for £10. They do online orders too. Once they're gone that's it apparently, the owner said there's a problem importing the coconut husks into the country, dunno how accurate that is though, just something she'd heard.

They are the only supplier I've found who still advertise any stock. They were an excellent fuel but due to non availabiity I'm weaning myself off them and on to Heat Beads.

That's what I was thinking. I'd never heard of them till I joined this forum. I tried them last weekend for the first time, they do burn long and hot, but what's the point of getting used to them if they're coming to an end? I'll stick with lump wood I think.

Last a little longer and burn hotter than other briquettes, I've only used them once but they seem to.

Just been talking to the fella at Forest Fuel, he reckons he'll have a substitute for cocoshell briquettes in a few weeks time. They're also made from husks.

I am up in Durham in a couple of weeks time - lets hope they have some left!

Connor they lasted longer and didn't cause a loss of deforestation. As to taste, I never ate any so couldn't' comment
