How much......

Post by paulandabbi2013 »

Sorry if this has been asked a million times but I had to ask :)

I know they are how long is a piece of string question's but its more about getting a ball park figure rather than exact answer's.

1. How much lumpwood should I buy at 1st to season and then do a few trail runs plus maybe smoke a chicken or two? I just wouldn't want to buy 4kg if that won't last long at all or buy to much and end up wasting it.

2. How much wood chips should I buy to do the season's and also a smoke or two? Same reason as above really :)

Thanks in advance

I always buy as much fuel as I can store. What are you cooking on. If a WSM then probably around 5kg would be enough to season. I wouldn't bother personally using wood chips/chunks during the season process.

Thanks for the reply! I am cooking on an offset. I will get a decent sized bag then so I don't have to buy it again to soon! I won't use chips for seasoning then so that's a bit of money saved :)

Thanks again

If you need any wood to smoke with? I would give the Paul Goulden a call http://bbqsmokingwood.co.uk/. Paul is not only a nice bloke, but he also sells great wood for a good price.
