Greetings! Crowder Barbecue.

Post by crowderbro »

Just thought i'd drop by and say hello.

I'm Dan, one half of the brotherly BBQ St Food duo 'Crowder Barbecue"

We are in the process of setting up an operation based in Leeds, selling BBQ goodness at events, gigs, festivals and all that.

We're actually on the lookout for a new smoker to increase our cooking capacity, so any advice on that would be great. Currently looking at the Louisiana's 'The Whole Hog' Country Smoker:

Anyone used one of these?

Will post in the Barbecue/Equipment section too - but any advice would be awesome!

Cheers,
Dan

I've not used on but i've had a look at one of the smaller versions at a comp' last year and i wasn't impressed. They're made from very thin metal and aren't insulated which will cause issues over here.

Also those whole hog units are about £3.5k if i remember correctly and i would say if you're spending that kind of money you can get a lot better.

Great pics guys and welcome to the forum. Do you really need a whole hog smoker or is that part of your event?

To be honest, the louisianan, traeger, green mountain etc are all pretty much the same, just different controllers. the whole hog is great in name but i have yet to see one used effectively, I am also pretty certain grakka have stopped importing them so would be worth checking out availablility and more importantly supprt.
